the Bachelor finale 03/2009

score . . . 1

Ok, I watched the bachelor last night hoping to see Jason pick Melissa and live happily ever after. Well . . . only half of what I wanted came to fruition.

Jason picked Melissa only to break her heart on national television like a complete JACK_ _ _.

I fell in love with Jason on the bachelorette. We all felt so bad for him last year when he got the shaft from Deanna (who we all knew picked the wrong guy - but that's another story). He was crushed and we all couldn’t wait for him to get his own show.

Man I so liked Jason. He was so cute – you could just eat him up. He also seemed so genuine - evidenced in the episode where he let two of the girls go at once instead of stringing one along another week when he knew he wasn’t feeling it with either. He got mad points for that move.

Now cutie pie Melissa was saying all through the show how she has always been the dumpee and never the dumper. We were all routing for her (at least I was). She and Jason seemed so right for each other. Nothing against Molly because she was great - I liked Molly as well. It was just that Melissa and Jason had great chemistry. Every time they were together you could see Jason's eyes light up in a way that they didn’t for Molly. And you knew Melissa was going to be there for him through thick and thin.

Now fast forward to the finale. What is up with Deanna making coming back? Talking about follow your head not your heart . . . lead you heart not your head . . . WHAT?! I don’t know what the hello she was talking about but that rubbish she was spewing I think got in Jason's mind a little.

The Decision: Jason sees Molly first (at least that is how it was presented on television) and delivers the bad news. She tells him he is making a big mistake . . . yada, yada, yada. But here is the killer – he straight had a brake down into the ugly cry. He was more broke up than Molly was at being broken up with. Now I thought this was strange while I was watching it but I tossed it off reasoning he is just an emotional guy because to tell the truth Jason has boo hooed all throughout the bachelor. Man Up dude! Then he sees Melissa and while he did still have the same gleam in his eye it was not the same as before. Again I didn’t think much of it – toss it up to stress. This is a good guy right? Wrong!

Now we get to the reunion episode and he is on the couch with the host first telling all their business - how they spent the holidays together and the spark was gone. It just wasn’t the same. Basically he said Melissa knew things were different and he had made the choice to end things with her because he hadn’t gotten over Molly. Subsequently they bring Melissa out (who hasn’t heard his purging with the host) and he breaks the news to her in essence he is ending their relationship because he still has feelings for Molly. WHHHAATT. If this wasn't the ultimate in disrespect, then don’t know what is. He brought her on national television to tell her – uh I don’t think so – I am going back to door number two.

I have to hand it to Melissa, girlfriend held it together even though we all could see how hurt she was. I could not stop screaming at the TV last night and calling Jason all types of explicatives. Then Molly comes out (who was not privy to the previous discussions) and he gushes all over her telling her what a mistake he made. He was everything but a gentleman. Melissa should have ended things with a big slap across the face and walked on out on his punk . . .

Jason you are persona non grada in my book. SOOOOO unclassy!

Message to Melissa – no worries!! You have it going on and you are going to be all right! Anybody who could do that is no one you would want to be in a relationship with (take note Molly).
