Pinapple Express

score . . . 3

Um where to begin. I was expecting sooo much because I heard a lot of good things about this movie. Ok so I put in my Netflix que. It comes in the mail and I can't wait to pop it in the DVD.
In goes the DVD and uggg. This movie was not so good. One- this is my first time seeing the lead actor in a movie and I was a little taken aback by his speaking voice. I thought he was putting on that voice until a collegue told me that is really how he speaks. The story line was actually ok and doable but the dialogue of the film was awful. Some of the comic scenes were funny but most were not. But I continued to watch waiting and hoping I would get to the super funny part but it never happened. About half way through the movie the DVD starting acting up and I just stopped watching and guess what I didnt even need Netflix to resend me a new copy. That's OK.

Traffic . . . starring Don Cheadle

score . . . 5

The movie was just OK. I really like Don Cheadle and he is an excellent actor but the story believability just didn't do it for me. It started out on a mysterious journey and I was anticipating something exciting. But it just kind of fizzled out. Furthermore the movie was kind of choppy and didn't tie up the loose ends. There is a scene with the girlfriend that seemed like it was just thrown in because it was so predictable. If you know she is being watched, why would you go see her and be so obvious. Considering Don's character was so inteligent this seemed out of whack and didnt even make sense. The movie never explained how or why Don Cheadle was in the position he was and that was a main part of the movie. It would have been nice to not just be left hanging. I was left feeling like blah after this movie ended. Come on Don I can't wait to see you in your next flick. I am still waiting on you to reprise your role as Mouse. That was a Classic!

GRAN TORINO

A Strong 7

I love Clint Eastwood!! He is a fantastic actor and of late, producing more films with a lot of substance. This was a good movie. I would recommend you see it. Unexpected ending which I liked even though it made me sad. I hate movies where I can predict everything that is about to happen.

One disappointment - the excessive Asian racial slurs. I understand that perhaps men of this era who fought in the Korean or Vietnam war have certain hostilities. Eastwood certainly spread his verbal racial abuse around but I just thought the racial epithets directed toward Asians were a little much.

All Time Favorite Clint Eastwood film: Any Which Way But Loose. Loved that orangutan and little old lady!

NOT EASILY BROKEN

A Strong 7

This was a very good movie. The actors all played their parts well. Nice Story Line. Nice Ending. Flowed Well. Moving. Realistic, etc. . .

Morris Chestnut was scrumptous eye candy. My goodness this brother needs to be in more movies. I am too old for posters on my wall but my my my I might have to post it.

Taraji P. Henson is an excellent actress. I still love her from Baby Boy. Famous line: Give me my shake!! Loved it. What I didn't love was her weave in this movie. It looked like it weighed more than she did. Her own hair is beautiful and more black actress should refuse to wear these overwhelming trellises.

The one disappointment of the movie was the racial focus. The audience was well aware of the racial make up of each character. The constant reference to the woman as being White and the lead as a Strong Black woman is played. The racial aspect of this movie did not fit and was unnecessary since the main issue was the relationship.
